New Guidance on the Building Safety Act has been published on gov.uk  (July 2022)

The Building Safety Act (latest version 29 March 2022 is here) is set to bring significant changes to construction over the next 12 to 18 months.  Government’s transition plan for this period is published here.

The act establishes the new role of Building Safety Regulator which will sit within the Health & Safety Executive.  It will have a duty to support industry in improving compliance and competence and be involved in advising on Building Regulations as part of its remit.

The act has provision for secondary legislation, some of which already been drafted.  They can be found here and were published in July 2021.  The Competency draft covers all works covered by Buildings Regulations for both domestic and non-domestic.
