ACRIB member FETA has published a report on Putting into Use Replacement Refrigerants (PURR), through the British Refrigeration Association.  The purpose of the report is to help people address the task of meeting some of the key implications and requirements of the EU F-Gas regulation which came into force on 1st January 2015.  Whilst mainly of interest to those involved in commercial refrigeration, it is designed to highlight the challenges the whole market will face in the next few years, and offers guidance and suggestions as to how these issues can be dealt with.

The ban on new installations and servicing with refrigerants with a Global Warming Potential of 2500 or more, together with the cap and phase down of HFC refrigerants, presents the sector with a major challenge.  With a very tight timescale in which these factors must be actioned, the need for advice and information will be vital in the decision making process.
